FRCH - Students now have a new reading booklet - this means reading every night for 15 - 30 minutes. This week, they are responsible for first five texts. We will evaluating reading again next week. All students should be near level 24!
Next month - texts, grammar and journal writing will be reviewed in a more traditional way. From here until the end of the year, we will be working on improving writing.
MAT - All our students know their multiplication tables but now we need to focus on speed and accuracy. Please practice at home, if possible!
We are currently working on Chapter 4 which we should finish by end of this week. We are also hoping to cover Chapter 5 by middle of next week. This means we are nearly half way done! By next week, Grade 4 students should have completed Chapter 5 of their Math Work Book!
Next month, we should cover the next five chapters. In June, we will do a complete review of the year and help those who are still having difficulty... We seem to be moving along quite well!
SOC - We are completing Chapter five - students need to finish the work exercises for those five chapters. In the next two weeks, we should complete the last remaining five chapters of this book!
During the month of May, Grade 4 students will work individually on "Medieval Times" and then, in June, they will complete the last strand, namely "Le Canada". In fact, I will distribute the text books some time next week!
SCI - "Pulleys and Gears" confirmed for May 13th. I will post the pictures of our last scientist-in-the-school "Rocks and Minerals"! You will love them!
We are currently completing soil... and we should begin to work on plants - two more strands to cover once this is completed and then we are done!
We will be doing much Science until the end of the year - it is the best time to do it... Because Science is so engaging, it is a good way to keep the students motivated at the end of the year. Lots of experiments!
HLTH - We have completed all the expectations of the curriculum! Our student nurse has left as she has completed her work term.
Roots of Empathy - Today was the last time the students saw "Baby Madeleine". There is one more class and then we are done!
