At this time, students should review their reading and their multiplication tables:

Reading - All students should be at a level 24 for Reading.

Mathematics - Students should already know their 7x7 multiplication tables.

Please be aware that these will be evaluated on the first report card! Students should get started right now if they are not already at the expected level!

FRCH - Reading every night for 15 - 30 minutes. Final reading evaluation after EQAO tests. All grade 3 students should be at a level 24. I am happy to report that not one student is below a level 20 in our class. Reading has been conquered!

MAT - As per the newsletter, at this time, students are to review elapsed time and addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

We have reviewed Chapter 9 (Multiplication) and 10 (Division) and have completed 2D Geometry (Chapter 7). This long weekend, students should review 3D Geometry (Chapter 11) and look at Chapter 8.

Next week, we will review Chapter 12, 13 & 14. We will have reviewed the entire book!

In June, we will do a complete math review to ensure concepts are well understood...

SOC - We have completed Chapter Eight. By the end of the month, we should have completed the entire book and be prepared for review! Social Studies for Grade 3 will be complete!

Grade 4 students should have completed reading Chapter 5 of "Le Canada" when they return from the long holiday weekend.

SCI - "Pulleys and Gears" was presented last week. I will post the pictures of our last scientist-in-the-school as soon as possible.

FRCH - Reading every night for 15 - 30 minutes. We will evaluate reading this week.

MAT - All our students know their multiplication tables but now we need to focus on speed and accuracy. Please practice at home, if possible!

We are currently finishing Chapter 5 and starting Chapter 6. We are hoping to cover Chapter 7 by the middle of next week. Grade 4 students should not only be completing Grade 3 Workbook but also Grade 4!

In June, we will do a complete review of the year and help those who are still having difficulty...

SOC - This week, we are starting Chapter six. By the end of the month, we should complete the book!

During the month of May, Grade 4 students will work individually on "Le Canada" and then, in June, they will complete "Medieval Times".

SCI - "Pulleys and Gears" confirmed for May 13th. I will post the pictures of our last scientist-in-the-school

We are currently completing soil... and we should begin to work on plants - two more strands to cover once this is completed and then we are done!

We will be doing much Science until the end of the year - it is the best time to do it... Because Science is so engaging, it is a good way to keep the students motivated at the end of the year. Lots of experiments!

FRCH - Students now have a new reading booklet - this means reading every night for 15 - 30 minutes. This week, they are responsible for first five texts. We will evaluating reading again next week. All students should be near level 24!

Next month - texts, grammar and journal writing will be reviewed in a more traditional way. From here until the end of the year, we will be working on improving writing.

MAT - All our students know their multiplication tables but now we need to focus on speed and accuracy. Please practice at home, if possible!

We are currently working on Chapter 4 which we should finish by end of this week. We are also hoping to cover Chapter 5 by middle of next week. This means we are nearly half way done! By next week, Grade 4 students should have completed Chapter 5 of their Math Work Book!

Next month, we should cover the next five chapters. In June, we will do a complete review of the year and help those who are still having difficulty... We seem to be moving along quite well!

SOC - We are completing Chapter five - students need to finish the work exercises for those five chapters. In the next two weeks, we should complete the last remaining five chapters of this book!

During the month of May, Grade 4 students will work individually on "Medieval Times" and then, in June, they will complete the last strand, namely "Le Canada". In fact, I will distribute the text books some time next week!

SCI - "Pulleys and Gears" confirmed for May 13th. I will post the pictures of our last scientist-in-the-school "Rocks and Minerals"! You will love them!

FRCH - Reading every night for 30 minutes. We will be evaluating reading again at the end of this month. All students should be at level 22, if not at level 24!

Next month - texts, grammar and journal writing will be reviewed in a more traditional way. From here until the end of the year, we will be working on improving writing.

MAT - All our students know their multiplication tables but now we need to focus on speed and accuracy.

We are currently finalizing Chapter 2 which we should finish tomorrow. Tonight, students must complete their revision of Chapter 2. All lessons in that chapter are completed! Tomorrow we do the test!

We have already started a review of lessons 1,2,3 of Chapter 3. Please check the Agenda for more information! Students will need to complete Chapter 3 this weekend.

Students need to be familiar with vocab and concepts as next week we will be reviewing problem solving for those first three chapters. Then, we will start on Chapters 4, 5 and 6 which we should complete by the end of the month. Next month, hopefully we can cover the remaining six chapters. In June, we will do a complete review of the year and help those who are still having difficulty...

The clicker is here and we have begun using it to review EQAO questions and problems and assess level of competence in Math. No more tutoring after school for reading! Starting next week, tutoring will be strictly for the review of Mathematics! Please sign up if you need the help! It is free!

SOC - Students were asked to complete the quiz for Chapter 4 and 5 of "Communaute Urbaine et Rurale" as it will be checked tomorrow morning.

Next week, we will read through those five chapters, review and test. Students will also finish the work exercises for those five chapters. In the next few weeks, we should complete the last remaining five chapters of this book!

SCI - We are still waiting for the confirmation of our last grade 4 scientist-in-the-school to cover the last curriculum expectation - "Pulleys and Gears".

With regards to our Grades 3... On Monday, we will return to "Soil and Plants". We will have two more strands to cover once this is completed and then we are done!

On the 27th of April, we are going to the Ontario Science Centre. Since there has been a modification in price, we will need to re-submit the forms for this event. The cost is now $15.00 per student + return TTC bus fare rather than the original $20.00. We should have forms and money returned by no later than Friday, April 22, 2011. This activity has been planned specifically for all the French Immersion students at the junior levels at Clairlea. it is a first!

FRCH - Reading every night for 30 minutes. I will be evaluating reading again at the end of this month. All students should be at least at level 22, if not at level 24!

MAT - All students should know their multiplication tables up to and including 10 x 10. If they do not know their multiplication tables, then they should practice every night. We are currently doing Chapter 1, which we will complete on Wednesday. Wednesday and Thursday night, students should be starting to work on Chapter 2. Check the Agenda for more information!

SOC - Wednesday, we will review Chapter 1 of Communaute Urbaine et Rurale. Thursday and Friday, they will complete Chapter 2 and begin Chapter 3. They must complete "prise de note", "vocabulaire", and "quiz".

Don't forget money for the Ontario Science Centre will be due next Friday!
